thoughts on linux

Linux has evolved from a thesis of  Linus Torvalds  the principal author of linux kernel into one of today great computer operating system. Linux is no longer conceived as an OS of the geeks, today even an average computer user can install linux with no pains. Linux kernel is so small that you can even install it in an obsolete floopy drive. Linux can now be seen anywhere to name a few, in an embedded system, desktop, to a super computer, servers, robotics and whole lot more.

However, one of the area wherein linux need to improved is on desktop. Although, desktop OS usage is way behind in Microsoft in terms of popularity linux is talking a leap forward. Unbuntu canonical for instance is making great strides in desktop linux. The beauty of linux is that it is an open source software, one can see and contribute to the linux community. One thing for sure in todays battle of OSes linux is making its stand as a force to recon with. As mentioned it is no longer an OS of the geeks but rather an OSes of the mass.
